All of our accommodation meets the Wakefield Council HMO standards and we are registered on the Wakefield Council Responsible Landlord Scheme.

Our Vision

The Community Cabin Foundation plans to decrease homelessness and hidden homelessness in the local area with ambitions to become a social registered landlord with our own housing stock through various social investment avenues. Our ambition is to provide supported living accommodation to some of the most vulnerable people in our communities with a particular emphasis on females.

Our support can include:-

  • Referrals to treatment services for alcohol, drug or health problems.
  • Help with claiming and managing benefits, including Limited Work Capability Assessment and Personal Independence Payment. We offer weekly appointments to help you through this process.
  • Referrals and support into mental health services and talking therapies
  • Assistance and support to help access education, training and employment opportunities.

Moving on – Support and Resettlement

Becoming tenancy ready and moving people into their own properties is our overarching aim. We work with the individual to design their own bespoke move on plan, which can include:-

  • Getting tenancy ready, including debt management, budgeting and affordability.
  • Registering with social housing providers, including VICO, Guinness and Together Housing.
  • Liaising with private landlords and helping to access rent in advance schemes to secure the property.

Health and Wellbeing

We recognise the importance of support to encourage individuals to make positive and lasting changes. Community Cabin help to increase a persons wellbeing by:-

  • We work alongside Central HEaRt CIC, a service dedicated to helping and supporting females who still continue to face systemic challenges in todays society. It’s important that the females we work with recognise their potential, working in partnership with Cetral HEaRT  provides them with the tools to help them succeed going forward.

Digital Hub

We have a digital hub in our office for staff to support our clients to move on and work towards their bespoke move on plan, which can include looking for housing, managing and maximining their benefits, online training, cv and application writing and to look for work when they are ready.
