Community Cabin – A Wakefield-Based Community Interest Company

Community Cabin offers fully furnished, shared houses across the Wakefield District for females aged 18 plus, who are facing difficulties and need a helping hand. All of our accommodation meets the Wakefield Council HMO standards and we are registered on the Wakefield Council Responsible Landlord Scheme.

Our Board

Sally

Sally is one of the founders of the Community Cabin Foundation and as been a Director since the organisation was first established in November 2019. Sally has a background in working for the Charitable Sector with over 17 years experience. During this time she has supported some of the most vulnerable in the Wakefield District. She has managed large, bespoke funded projects including those funded by the DWP and European Funding, helping and supporting vulnerable people into housing and employment.

James

James is a multi-award-winning L&D leader with over 20 years-experience and an abundance of charisma and creativity. A natural proactive, motivator and coach who has engaged learners and leaders in a variety of sectors including Financial Services, Retail, Gaming, and Logistics, all at an enterprise-wide level.

James is an expert facilitator and content creator, mixed with a sleeve rolled up approach that has proven very successful when kick-starting, creating, and finessing L&D Teams on an international scale, making him a rare breed in terms of strategic mindset mixed with hands on delivery.

Andrew

Andrew was appointed Director in March 2024. He has a background in Commercial & Procurement in the automotive and drinks wholesale sectors. Andrew has spent the last 10 years in drinks wholesale with a market leading company, managing the Commercial Team and overall profitability within the North East region, which consisted of 4 trading depots covering over 250 staff and £220M sales turnover converting to a market leading net profit % return.

Louise

Louise was appointed Director in March 2024 and is currently heading up a business unit of around 100 staff for a public sector service. She has been a senior leader in her organisation for approx.. 7 years and she has over 14 years overall management experience.

Alison

With over 25 years of experience in HR and L&D, Alison has established her own HR Consultancy, Sparks HR Consultancy Ltd, supporting SMEs with their HR needs.

With over 25 years of experience in HR and Learning & Development, Alison is the founder of Sparks HR, an independent consultancy supporting SMEs with practical, people-focused solutions. Drawing on her own first-hand experience of the challenges businesses face, Alison brings deep insight, empathy, and a wealth of knowledge to every organisation she partners with.

The cabin also has an advisory board to support the directors, made up of officials from strategic housing and economic regeneration in Wakefield Council, who offer impartial advice to the board when required.
